in March 2011, for the third straight year, Yuma First has sent a Mission Team to Gleanings for the Hungry in Dinuba, CA. People who come, come to worship and help in the gleaning process. In the summer youth come and help dry fruit in season. In the winter "older folks" work on quilts or in the dried soup mix factory or do maintenance around the campus in preparation for the summer. Product is shipped throughout the world. This year, a container was shipped to Israel. And you meet the most wonderful people who are also doing the same thing. Everyone there is a volunteer including the staff. The food is marvelous, the facilities are neat and clean. The weather is - the weather. But most of all, you come away knowing that you have been with Jesus and His people who have been about His work. If you'd like to be a part of this, just contact the church office and they'll point you in the right direction. Come on. It's fun.

In late February 2009, 14 members of a Mission Team sponsored by First Church traveled to Pucallpa, Peru for a 10 day work experience at the Refugio de Esperanza (Refuge of Hope) operated by Pastor Victor Izqierdo and is wife Ana. This Refuge contains a school for the children and focuses on children with challenging handicaps. During their stay in Peru the Mission Team also visited the village of Tres Unidos, visiting with Pastor Jose and his wife Betty. To get to Tres Unidos, they went by way of Lake Yarinacocha to the Ucalali River. Everyone returned excited about seeing God at work through this very special place on God's earth. The pictures below are but a glimpse of what they saw. If you want more, just find one of those who went. They're the ones with the smile on their face and the glow in their life.
